Reconnecting

When I’m at my worst I start thinking about all the friends and family around the world that I’ve lost touch with. When I’m at my best I think about all the friends and family around the world I miss and would love to re-connect with.

There’s always this hesitancy to run into that friend from high school or grab a coffee with someone you once spent your days with. Do you feel that? I’ve found that 100% of the time I have a re-connecting call or hang out it is incredible. Sure there are awkward moments and the sad realizations that you’ve missed major life moments. But it doesn’t matter. For that moment you are together and celebrating life, togetherness, and relationship. I wish I could see things this way every day.

Yesterday was one of those days. I enjoyed every moment of connecting with our friend visiting from South Africa. It reminded me that I need to invest more time in staying connected in real ways to people I care about. This requires more than social media comments and likes.
